Taylor Sheridan’s Sweeping 3-Part Neo-Western Is Officially a Major Awards Contender

Taylor Sheridan is angling for one of the biggest years of his career in 2026. While he prepares for his return to the big screen with F.A.S.T., which is arriving in theaters everywhere almost exactly one year from today, he’s also working on a new Call of Duty movie set to be directed by Peter Berg. The film is set for release in 2028, and Sheridan is balancing both projects with a new Texas war epic that he’s writing, directing, and producing, commissioned directly by the Lieutenant Governor of Texas, Dan Patrick. In the meantime, Sheridan has already introduced two new shows to the world with The Madison and Marshals. The former is a Yellowstone-like modern Western starring Michelle Pfeiffer and Kurt Russell, and the latter is a direct Yellowstone spin-off headlined by Luke Grimes.

Sheridan is also soon to resume work on what has become his biggest project in the last few years, Landman. After arriving near the end of 2024, Landman has two successful seasons under its belt, and the show has already been renewed for Season 3. The first season of Landman was famously snubbed by the TV Academy and received no Emmy recognition, despite strong performances across the board. This year, Paramount has different plans for Landman, as news broke yesterday that the studio plans to submit Landman and its performers for several Emmy categories. Billy Bob Thornton will officially be campaigning for Best Lead Actor in a Drama Series this year, and while Ali Larter last featured as his counterpart in the Best Lead Actress category, she will now be submitted under Best Supporting Actress. Paramount will also push for nominations for Sam Elliott, Andy Garcia, and Demi Moore in supporting categories.

Paramount has yet to set a premiere date for Landman Season 3, but with the show set to resume production next month, it’s a safe bet that it will make its return to streaming before the end of the year. Landman has quietly become one of Sheridan and Paramount’s biggest properties since its premiere in 2024, so it’s likely being treated as a priority. Things are going to look much different in Landman Season 3, too, now that Tommy has left behind the big corporation and is set to go at it with his family.
