’70s Rock Legend Announces Two Special Shows

Legendary ’70s guitarist Eric Clapton announced two special shows on his Instagram Wednesday morning. The performances will take place on Monday, April 20, and Tuesday, April 21, at the G Live Guildford venue in the United Kingdom.

The G Live Guildford is a notorious venue in England. Renovated from the former civic hall, the building has been completely modernized into a state-of-the-art entertainment auditorium with advanced 3D acoustics and seating room for approximately 1,700 people.

Despite being 80 years old, Clapton remains highly active in his career, recently announcing a European world tour scheduled for 2026. The tour will span over eight countries from April through August, making these two Guildford shows his first performances of the year.

Clapton rose to fame in the 1960s through his work with The Yardbirds and Cream, two highly influential British rock supergroups. He began focusing on his solo career in the mid-1970s, achieving massive success with his 1974 album 461 Ocean Boulevard. Since then, Clapton has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame three times and continues to release music and tour internationally.

His most recent release was a deluxe edition of his 1989 album Journeyman, which featured four previously unreleased tracks. With a steady stream of new material, longtime fans are very excited about the new tour dates.

Fans took to the comments to express their enthusiasm.

“I’ll be in the massive queue for tickets!!! Good luck everybody! Can’t miss this.”

“This is too close to me to let up.”

“For a second, I thought he was gonna play with his Guild guitar. Haha! Excited, nevertheless.”

Tickets will go on sale Friday, Jan. 16.
