Ben Stokes ready to come out of retirement for the second time

England Test captain Ben Stokes has revealed his post-retirement plans. The star all-rounder wants to be a coach, as he can’t be kept away from the game.

The 33-year-old has been one of the best performers for England and is a two-time World Cup winner. He played a crucial role in England’s success in the 2019 ODI World Cup and 2022 T20 World Cup.

Ben Stokes has lost one Test series since becoming England’s Test captain in 2022.

“I love cricket and there is no way I can be kept away from it. The day I retire from the sport, I will try my hand in coaching and this is what I want to do for my love for the game. I would like to impact the career of few people after hanging up my boots,” he told The Telegraph.

Ben Stokes had announced retirement from one-day internationals but came out of it for the 2023 ODI World Cup in India. He again stopped playing the format after the team’s debacle. However, the veteran is likely to come out of retirement for the second time ahead of the 2025 Champions Trophy in Pakistan.

He wants to be a part of the ICC event. “It is hard to say no to big events. I am content with what I have achieved in white-ball cricket. I don’t know whether the managments see me as part of that or not. I am sure of having a conversation at some point. I will be happy with any outcome,” he added.

Ben Stokes, who is not playing in the ongoing three-Test series against Sri Lanka due to an injury, has a chance of competing against Pakistan in the longest format.
