Australia vs South Africa Highlights 1st ODI: Keshav Maharaj bagged a five-wicket haul to help South Africa beat Australia by 98 runs in the first ODI of a three match series in Cairns on Tuesday. Chasing 297, Australia were bowled out for 198 as Maharaj returned figures of 5/33 at the Cazalys Stadium. Australia captain Mitchell Marsh scored a fighting 88 but didn’t get help from the other batters. Earlier, Travis Head took a four-wicket haul as Australia restricted South Africa to 296/8 in 50 overs in the first ODI of the three-match series. Asked to bat first, the Proteas got off to a brillinat start as openers Aiden Markram and Ryan Rickelton forming a good partnership. Markram scored 82 while Rickelton scored 33. Later, Temba Bavuma scored 65 while Matthew Breetzke scored 57 off 56 balls.
