Sad news coming from Sydney that Bob Simpson has passed away at the age of 89. His was one of the most remarkable careers in cricket. Having retired from the game in 1968, he returned to the side at the age of 41 after Kerry Packer wooed in all of Australia’s premier players. His biggest impact was perhaps as Australia’s first full time coach where he built strong unit stressing on fitness and fielding. He was Australia’s coach when Sri Lanka beat them in the Lahore final.
