A slip between the cup and the lip for Sri Lanka as they lose by 16 runs

Sri Lanka made 2 changes to the winning combination, and so did Bangladesh , as both teams needed a win.

Sri Lanka had they won , would have had another series done, and dusted against Bangladesh, and for the visitors, a win is pertinent to keep their hopes alive in the 3 match series.

Dushmantha Chameera replaced Eshan Malinga whilst Dunith Wellalage came in place for Milin Ratnayaka.

For Bangladesh, surprisingly, Litton Das was benched, and Taskin Ahmed was rested , whilst Shamin Hassan, an off spinner, was introduced, with Hasan Mahamood replacing Taskin Ahmed.

Bangladesh made the right choice by winning the toss and batting first.

Tanzid Hassan, who made 62 in the first ODI , departed for 2 with Bangladesh score on 10.

Najmul Shanto joined Hassan Emon at the wickets. Shanto anchored the innings, but Emon took full toll of loose deliveries bowled by Dushmantha Chameera , Kamindu Mendis , and Charith Asalanka as he thumped 6 boundaries, 3 sixes in his 69 ball innings to make 67 runs, before Hasaranga had him bowled off a legitimate leg break that spun into his pads whist disturbing the timber.

Bangladesh batters were in trouble with two new batters at the wickets.

Towhid Hridoy came to the aid. Made 51 off 69 deliveries helped by a cameo by Tanzib Shakib, who struck 33 off 22 deliveries and Bangladesh stiched 248 runs, were bowled out in 48.3 overs.

Asitha Fernando 4 for 35, Wanindu Hasaranga 3 for 60.

Sri Lanka did well whilst Kusal Mendis was at the wickets when he thumped the Bangladesh bowling for a quick fire 57, however, his departure and Kamindu Mendis, being off colour dismissed for 33, opened the flood gates with Sri Lankan batters folded up like a pack of cards.

A light at the end of the tunnel was Janith Liyanage. He thumped the tigers for 79 runs in 85 deliveries. However, the chase slipped by 16 runs, as the right-hander was caught and bowled by Mustafizur Rahaman during the run of and fell short by 16 runs.

Tanvir Islam 5 for 39 was the pick of bowlers for Bangladesh.
