Pathum Nissanka scored a career best 202 off 260 enriched with 19 boundaries while Sohan de Livera made 142 off 169 containing 17 boundaries as Kandy amassed 453 against Dambulla who had replied with 207 for 4 with skipper Dhananjaya de Silva unbeaten on 81 and looking set to get to his third century in three weeks hving hit 8 boundaries and a six in trailing by 246 runs at stumps on the second day of their Sri Lanka Cricket National Super League match at the R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium yesterday.
Former white ball captain Dasun Shanaka was on 34 off 38 having struck 3 boundaries and a six.
Dambulla’s Akila Dhananjaya followed up last week’s match winning five-wicket haul on Friday too in claiming 5 wickets for 140 runs.
Meanwhile, Galle were 263 for 7 wickets at stumps on day two in reply to Jaffna’s 305 with all-rouder Dunith Wellalage in fine nick with the bat too in the ongoing tournament scoring with 68 off 90 balls hitting 8 boundaries. Upfront, overnight batsman Oshada Fernando converted his overnight 13 to 67 off 105 with 5 boundaries with the only other notable contribution being Dinesh Chandimal’s 40 off 49 with 6 boundaries as the Jaffna attack of Sithum Dissanayake 3 for 41 and Asanka Manoj 2 for 41 impressing with the ball at the Mahinda Rajapaksa International Cricket Stadium.
