Harshitha Samarawickrama unbeaten 66 in Sri Lanka Women’s 147/5 vs NZ
Women The opening ODI between Sri Lanka Women and New Zealand Women was rain abandoned with the Lankan lasses on 147 for 5 wickets in 36.4 overs with Harshitha Samarawickrama on a half century at McLean Park, Napier on Tuesday.
Batting first by consensus of the two captains with no toss Sri Lanka lost skipper Chamari Athapaththu for 9 with the score 25 after 6.4 overs.
But Samarawickrama joined Vishmi Gunaratne in adding 45 for the second wicket off 57 balls, and going on to further steady the innings from 93 for 4 sharing in a fifth wicket partnership of 44 off 52 balls with Nilakshika Silva 17 off 13 when the latter was run out with the score 137 after 35 overs.
Samarawickrama struck 66 off 96 balls hitting 7 boundaries in her unbeaten knock when the rains came down preventing any further play.
Pick of the New Zealand bowlers was Bree Illing who claimed 2 wickets for 42 runs.
