Aamir Khan admits son Junaid Khan’s Loveyapa didn’t work; says he was 10 times more stressed than for his own films: ‘My heart was pumping’

While Junaid Khan’s debut film Maharaj received critical acclaim, his big-screen debut and second film Loveyapa failed to make an impact at the box office. In a recent interaction, Junaid’s father and Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan opened up about the movie’s failure, admitting that he was deeply stressed about its release despite having no involvement in the project. However, he called Junaid ‘intelligent’ and assured that he would ‘find his way.’

Speaking to ABP about Loveyapa’s performance, Aamir said, “Junaid’s film Loveyapa didn’t work unfortunately. I am sad about that. I think the film is good and Junaid also did good work in the film but it didn’t work and as a father I was 10 times more stressed for Junaid’s film than what I am for my own films. Two weeks before the release, I was sitting at the window and thinking, ‘Why am I stressed? It isn’t even my film.’ I neither produced or directed the film. I haven’t been on the set once. I was just watching it all from afar but my heart was pumping. I felt this is the most important moment of my life. This is the emotion of a father.”

“Junaid will learn,” Aamir said while also revealing that his son will star in a film of his production house — Aamir Khan Productions. The film, co-starring Sai Pallavi, will release by the end of the year. He added, “Junaid is young, intelligent and he has got a lot of energy. He has got a lot of positivity so he will find his way.”

Loveyapa, which hit theaters on February 7, faced stiff competition from Himesh Reshammiya’s Badass Ravikumar. The film, which also starred Khushi Kapoor, has earned ₹9.4 crore worldwide within 16 days of its release, according to Sacnilk. It was directed by Advait Chandan.
