T&T’s Ramnath 4/6 seals WI Super Six spot

Trinidad and Tobago teenager Samara Ramnath took four wickets for just six runs this morning, leading the West Indies to secure a spot in the Super Six stage of the Women’s Under-19 T20 World Cup.

The West Indies posted a total of 112, with opener Asabi Calledar top-scoring with 30.

Ramnath, the West Indies captain who also opened the batting, scored only five runs.

Malaysia, the host country, was bowled out for 59 when it was their turn at the crease.

The West Indies won by 53 runs.

Ramnath’s performance with the ball saw her being named Player of the Match.

This victory marked the West Indies’ first win in the tournament after a tough start, with losses to India and Sri Lanka.

The win secured third place in Group A for the West Indies and also eliminated Malaysia, who finished at the bottom of the group with three defeats.

The West Indies is scheduled to play Australia, who topped Group D, in the Super Six match on Saturday in Bangi.
