Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was removed from five movies which starred Shah Rukh Khan like ‘Chalte Chalte’ and ‘Veer Zaara’. Once Aishwarya was asked about it on Simi Garewal’s show and the actress had said that she didn’t ask why she was removed. She had said that her dignity is very dear to her and it’s not in her nature to ask. She further added that if a person would have wanted to explain themselves, they would have and if they did not, may be they never intend to. The actress maintained a dignified silence. However, SRK had later apologised.
In an interview, he said that he wasn’t the only producer and thus, it was not in his hand. He further added, “Very saddened at the fact that Aishwarya was a very close friend, I have done some really marvelous films with her and I genuinely mean that. She has been one of my favourite co-actresses and we’ve done some really nice work — Josh, Mohabbatein, Devdas — and enjoyed together, and we get along really well. Personally, it is very saddening not to… for something to reach at this level. I feel very sorry about it and I genuinely do.”
Meanwhile, Jaya Bachchan had said in an interview with People Magazine in 2008, that she does hold it against Shah Rukh. “Of course, I do,” she said, further adding, “I haven’t had the opportunity to discuss it with him and I am going to speak to him about it. If he was at my home, I would have slapped him, just as I would my own son. But I have connected with him in my soul, and that’s it.” She had also said, “I have a weakness for Shah Rukh.”
Aishwarya and Shah Rukh have starred together in movies like ‘Josh’, ‘Mohabbatein’, ‘Devdas’. After SRK apologised, they burried the hatchet and at the moment, they remain friends. They even played divorced ex-lovers in Karan Johar’s ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’. Abhishek continues to be quite close to Khan and is now also going to share screen space with him in ‘King’.
Meanwhile, Jaya’s grandson Agastya and Khan’s daughter, Suhana are reportedly dating. The two young talents that made their debut in Zoya Akhtar’s ‘The Archies’, have been rumoured to be in a relationship. However, the two are yet to confirm the rumours.
