India’s star all-rounder with 9483 runs, 659 wickets announces sudden retirement from limited-over cricket, made his debut in Australia

India’s star all-rounder Rishi Dhawan has announced his retirement from limited-over cricket. Although, the 34-year-old fast-bowling all-rounder from Himachal Pradesh didn’t get much exposure in international cricket, but he has an impressive track record in domestic cricket.

Rishi Dhawan’s international career spanned four matches, three ODIs and one T20I. Notably he made his debut in Australia back in 2016.

However, Rishi Dhawan will continue playing first-class cricket. He will likely remain a key member of the Himachal Pradesh team for the remainder of the ongoing Ranji Trophy season. Currently second in Group B, Himachal are in contention for a quarterfinals berth. Dhawan has been a key contributor this season, featuring in all five matches. This game has given me immeasurable joy and countless memories that would always stay very close to my heart,” Dhawan wrote on his Instagram post.

“I want to take a moment to show my gratitude towards the opportunities that were given to me by Board of Control of Cricket in India (BCCI), Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA), Punjab Kings, Mumbai Indians and Kolkata Knight Riders. From humble beginnings to representing my nation on the grandest stages, it has been a privilege beyond measure. Cricket has been my passion, and my reason for waking up every morning,” his post further read.
