‘Dabidi Dibidi’ song from ‘Daaku Maharaaj’ faces backlash for inappropriate choreography and age gap

The latest song from Nandamuri Balakrishna and Urvashi Rautela, titled ‘Dabidi Dibidi,’ for the upcoming film, ‘Daaku Maharaaj’ has led to a spree of negative comments on the internet for its choreography and the perceived inappropriateness of the dance moves.

The music video of ‘Dabidi Dibidi’ opens with Balakrishna dressed in a blue shirt and ornate jacket. He is seen engaging in suggestive dance moves with Urvashi, who is clad in a crop top and skirt. The choreography, led by Shekhar Master, includes Balakrishna hitting Urvashi’s belly button and playfully slapping her rear during the chorus, which many viewers found objectionable. Netizens have pointed out the stark age difference between the 64-year-old Balakrishna and the 30-year-old Rautela, leading to comments about the appropriateness of their on-screen chemistry.

Social media users have expressed their outrage, with some labelling the choreography as “gross” and “vulgar.” Uses also wrote about the age gap and the nature of their interactions. Others have called for the song to be removed or reshot, arguing that it does not align with Balakrishna’s stature as a veteran actor.

In ‘Daaku Maharaaj’ directed by Bobby Kolli, Balakrishna is portrayed as a Robin Hood-like dacoit in a unique avatar. The teaser released by the makers shows Balakrishna in a way they have never seen before.

The cast includes Bollywood actor Bobby Deol as the antagonist, alongside other supporting actors, Urvashi Rautela, Pragya Jaiswal, and Shraddha Srinath. The music for the film is composed by Thaman S.

The release of ‘Dabidi Dibidi’ comes just days before ‘Daaku Maharaaj’ hits theatres on January 12, 2025, coinciding with the Sankranti festival.
